Learning of the Giant's dimensional travel, Avernus creates deceptive thievery and the rest of strife, using it to implant spies among the elves.
The Giants use the elves as organic ablative armor for the voidwinds, killing them in the process. However, the Avernal spies lie strengthened by the will of Defiance, and a rare few survive, taking the Void Ink within themselves and--presumed dead--escape to Avernus. Avernus creates powerful new warriors and sorcerers of unbridled potential, which serves to escalate the war to cataclysmic proportions.
