Pure Dragons and Mutations

All who have seen a Dragon of Pure descent can attest to their splendor and fearsome visage. Watching from the skies like hawks before descending like vultures to devour any and all prey, as well as collecting coin and power as any Min'ekari banker, and even studying the Runic Script as well as any Arcanist. Dragons are as powerful and deadly as they are intelligent, and are the epitome of danger in Sartova.   Their main weakness, pride and numbers. As a consequence of their prowess as the foremost minds as well as hunters, they have become extremely territorial and solitary, some fighting over feeding grounds, others over worshipers and dogmatic beliefs, others over priceless artifacts.   This was not always the case. It is written in the Tombs of Old Reivanta that millennia ago the Dragons were not warring factions or single crusaders of their own causes, nor hungry beasts in some cases, but rather, they were servants of Simon, himself. In the days of old, stretching back to the dawn of time in the Jotun Era of Titans upon Jhar'gorn, Dragons served Simon, being the sole beings able to transfer energies from the Themes to Sartova, and expunge such energies back to where they came. Dragons were the Scribes by which the Story was told.   The Chapel of the Light was taken aback at the revelation, and dragons were immediately invited (of those amiable enough to accept the invitation) to advise the Circle of the Heart, as well as the Duchy.   It was concerning, however, that it seemed all Dragons had somewhere along the line given up this duty granted to them by Simon, their creator. Further study revealed that there is still a faction of Dragons, known as the Dragonscribes, a minute percent of all dragons, who still perform this function for the Story. They do so claiming to hear the voice of the Storyteller tasking them with the energies they need to acquire, before they retreat to their grand lairs and wait for further instruction.
Another small faction known as the Sha'tharra, or the "Clever Wyrms," are descended from an ancient green dragon known as Doneicataru. They are a Druidic sect who put great value on the natural world and its ways. (includes forest fires and the like).
The Doppleganger Crisis revealed that there were many Kyrian monstrosities hiding among us. However, it revealed another hidden faction, which is forgotten by the majority of scribes in the current day. When the dukes, nobles, and generals were all undergoing trials to determine if they and their actions were their own, or indeed of a Kyrian influence, another group was revealed in the shadows to be attempting manipulation over the world of man. Known as The Sanctum, these dragons would shapechange into mortal form and infiltrate the societies of the Bay to suit their own goals.   They did, however, claim benevolence, and a desire to root out Thematic influence over Sartova. It is unknown if this is the case as following the Crisis, all records of these trials were lost in the destruction of the Zirconian Archives.   Convenient, wouldn't you say?   IN AETERNUM. AD INFINITUM.
