Bladelings

Bladelings are common throughout Evandyr, especially in the western Bay , the Bronze Sea , and Tarakon. They are near-humans, except for a hundred barbs and blades protruding from the skin, all over the body, which can be thrown and utilized seemingly indefinitely.
It is said to be Bladelings that led to the creation of Halflings, as when the Bladelings attacked Greenvale, Jeff Gemswallower found the right herb that would allow him to shrink beneath the blades of his aggressors. 
When a Bladeling dies, it's body sheds it's spines rapidly, though more and more seem to come, in an endless shower of chitin-like blades, until the body collapses in on itself and dissolves into the sharp blades.
