Giellos
Giellos is the civilized half of Sarnil. It is comprised of five countries, all of which are a part of The Giellan Union.
Giellos is, currently at peace with itself. This has led to relative economic prosperity across the continent, as well as a general sense of trust. Old feelings towards goblinoids are fading among most citizens, and borders are more or less open. A good portion of the population lives in a country that is not their species' home country (particularly, a lot of goblinoids are moving into Anjeta), and they are accepted there. The culture of these people is defined much more by their nation than their race, and all races that are not known evil can be found in some parts of Giellos. As trusting as Giellos is of other Giellans, they do not trust most of Fahren. Legend says dark magic still infuses the land, and there are many places and races there that are known evil, such as The Shroud and the Tieflings and Humans of Ziongate. There is a constant threat to the east, and in despite Giellos being in relative comfort, most citizens live with a twinge of fear about possible invasions, or worse.
- Anjeta is the nation of the Elves, and is currently under the rule of Lady Brinneth. Anjeta has been on the cutting edge of technology and education for centuries, and it is both the largest and wealthiest nation on Giellos. Anjeta is a busy, bustling place, but few dare to venture to the northeastern area of the country for fear of getting too close to The Shroud.
- Enseer is mainly peopled by Dragonborn and is the oldest country on Giellos. It was founded by the Dragons, who supposedly went extinct millennia ago, although no Enseer resident, dragonborn or otherwise, will admit it. Magic infuses every part of Sarnil, but the magic of the Ancient Dragons still permeates within most that were born there, specifically the dragonborn. Queen Marketh is said to be the most powerful magician alive, although this is unconfirmed.
- Jemeth is the home of the Goblinoids in the Northernmost part of Giellos. They are led by Sabren the Witch Queen, a hobgoblin who leads the nation peacefully, despite its bloody history. Jemeth has recently started utilizing its vast supply of natural resources, and is quickly becoming one of the most productive nations in Sarnil.
- Mendishleer is a country peopled mainly by Goliaths and Firbolgs, as well as a number of other species. Mendishleer is made up of a group of tribes living in the harsh mountain and forest landscapes throughout the country in the southeast of Giellos. Their head representative in The Giellan Union is a Goliath named Prunt the Wanderer. Each tribe has developed their own distinct culture, but the country's government does represent all of the people and provides each tribe with laws.
- Quam is mainly a nation of Dwarves in the southwest of Giellos. Their vast, rich farmland gives them a large amount of economic power, but renders the nation fairly weak against attackers as their kingdom is sparsely populated outside of cities. Their leader, Ar'Gruth Greechak, has been amassing an army that is supposedly just defending his nation, but is still a concern to the other countries.
