Quam

Wealthy residents of Quam claim that their nation is the happiest place on Sarnil or anywhere else. They also maintain that this is because very few people outside of Quam are welcome into it, which would muddle the wonderful nation they had in place. Poor residents of Quam vary in their enthusiasm, mainly depending on their living circumstances. Poor farmers live difficult lives, but poor businessmen or even the unemployed in cities have little to no chance of finding happiness. This is partially due to Quam's somewhat rigid social classes.
  • Ar': Leaders, nobles, the wealthiest people of Quam. Only dwarves.
  • Er': Wealthy and influential people in their own right, although not royalty. This includes people who run guilds, respected scholars and magicians, and other valued members of society like them.
  • Ir': Skilled workers, but still of the working class. The majority of the small number of immigrants to Quam are of this class due to the demand for such workers. However, while this is a safe option for making a living, it offers little chance of becoming wealthy, with the exception of signing up for the military.
  • Or': The poorest class, farmers and common labroers. This is also the largest class in Quam, although the quality of life ranges from living off of work to complete poverty.
  • Ul': Outcasts, criminals, people who are no longer considered to be members of the country, or even given the dignity of mentioning.
Citizens of Quam are expected to introduce themselves with their class title before their name, and even courteous visitors are expected to do so (substituting the letter "L" for the letter "R"). These titles are also used to describe people outside of Quam in conversation. Despite the protests of several other nations, Ar'Gruth Greechak shows no signs of changing the class customs, saying they are an integral part of dwarven society. Dwarves also make up the vast majority of the population, and most people there want it that way. The nation's culture is preserved, and this keeps out members of the numerous nations that have invaded in the past.   Quam provides a good portion of Giellos's food. This is mainly from farming, but also from the large amount of livestock they have there. However, they strangely have one of the largest militaries in Giellos, claiming that they need to defend themselves. This has raised concern from the rest of The Giellan Union , who claim they have nothing to fear. Still, Greechak and his fellow leaders keep their cards close to their chest, and they show no signs of stopping their fortifications.
