Elves
The elves of Sarnese consider themselves the first humanoids created by the gods, made in the semblance of the first god, Elros-Miti. They believe that after an unknown cataclysm from millennia ago, the gods left the mortal world, entrusting a divine Roc, Tzishlinkit, with looking after their creations.
The main elven city, houses all kinds of elves, from Drow to Eladrin. Each type of elf is in charge of a different aspect of the city.
Eladrin run the government.
High Elves are in charge of anything related to education.
Wood Elves are the city's artisans.
Shadar-Kai are those in religious positions.
Sea Elves are fishers and farmers.
Drow work as the city's guards.
Avariel are soldiers deployed to war.
Finally, Sun and Moon elves are those adults who did not go onto one of the previous specializations.
It is believed that any elf that leaves the city before reaching adulthood takes on the form of a Wild Elf, or even Lythari.
Unlike elves of other worlds however, the Sarnesian elf is not born into their subrace, with the exception of the Astral Elf, which are the rich and elite of the city. Elves when born do not have any of the characteristics of their adult counter parts. Instead, as they grow and gain skills they body slowly shapes to what they eventually decide to be their calling when they reach adulthood. When no longer practicing their calling, such as when an elf is reaching the end of their life, they begin to revert to a from similar to that of a newborn. The Sarnesian elves believe this form is what Elro-miti looks like.
When the outsiders arrived near the city and began building their own settlement, the elves were accepting and wanting to form a beneficial relationship with the people. However, when they found the people of what would become Two Rivers harboring a Shu-al, a spirit they believe caused the cataclysm out of envy of the gods's power and the blessing they granted the elves, they stopped their trade efforts with the civilization. They began a cold war against the group, their main objective being to dispose of the Shu-al. However, when the followers of the Shu-al killed Tzishlinkit, the elves escalated to a full on war. All their efforts have now gone to preparing for the war, uniting the rest of Sarnesse against Two Rivers.

Common Myths and Legends
Elros-Miti and Shu-al
When the planes where in their infancy, there were two forces pushing against each other. One force wanted to keep the other in order, while the other wanted to break free into chaos. These two forces twisted and turned, with the first entropy eventually winning, containing its counterpart. This force gathered itself and became Elros-Miti, the first god. To continue to keep order, Elros-Miti formed domains, and created beings to be in charge of those domains, and thus the other gods were born. Elros-Miti was pleased with how the gods ran their domains, and so he turned his will into creating the first mortal beings, his perfect creation the elves. And this once again pleased Elros-Miti. However, while all this was happening, the second force, still trying to break free and unleash the madness that was its chaos, devised a plan to break free. Speaking to one of the newer creations, made by another god, the force convinced this creation to commit the ultimate sin, trying to overthrow Elros-Miti. The creation twisted and darkened as they attempted to become a god, stealing power from other gods. Left with no other choice, Elros-Miti had to banish the creation, and the plane it inhabited, to non existence. Angered at what happened, Elros-Miti struck the second force, severing it. It's pieces now free, the second force spread out. And while the force was no longer as powerful as it was before. So it hid its pieces across the planes, adopting different names. The one piece that arrived in Sarnesse decided to call itself Shu-al, and began plotting a way to regain its power by causing chaos.
