'Demikith' is a term first introduced by Rydmarkian scholars in [PLACEHOLDER]. Considered to be a derogatory moniker by many, the word refers to sapient, non-fey beings believed to have lower intelligence and the inability to create proper civilizations in the eyes of many Eletherosi cultures. The term is highly controversial among many cultures outside of Eletheros and Ivskia, namely throughout Western Arekahs and Central Karda where such beings are frequently considered equal in stature to humans and orcs, but has nevertheless gained traction simply for its usefulness as a descriptor. Originally coined in reference to naturally born goblinoid creatures considered beneath the intellect of proper kith - such as trolls, ogres, and skralls - the term was quickly adopted to reference scourgeborn beings as well (or, at least, those which still bore enough resemblance to a humanoid shape and had not been converted into malformed monstrosities). While larger communities had arisen around some of the more common mutations capable of passing on their forms to any offspring, as in the cases of minotaurs, centaurs, and the like, many other mutated forms had no term for their appearances, and so 'demikith' became a term used more generally than scientifically.
