Spriggan

Spriggans, also referred to as gaians/gayans (from Hementi(Greek) Γαῖα gaia, a poetical a poetical form of Γῆ , "land" or "earth"), wishmores (a Durranization of the Bolsian(Polish) name wyszymora), or simply treemen are a group of descendant fey – meaning fey who were brought to life through the life force of elder, more powerful fey creatures – which take on shapes based on various sorts of trees found within their environments.   Predictably, based on their builds, spriggans bear direct descendents from dryads (a forest nymph) and are universally located within woodland regions. The strength and well-being of the fey is intrinsically tied to the health of the environments around them and, as such, their livelihoods wane and wax in tandem with the cycle of seasons. Spriggans dwelling within colder climates have occasionally been observed to retreat into a state of near-complete dormancy in the winder months, waking only when disturbed by outsiders.   There is no entirely consistent appearance or frame to a spriggan. Some walk upright on two legs in a humanoid fashion while others more closely resemble the hunched-over frame of an ape or the quadrupedal build of a bovine. Some only manifest a single appendage which acts as an arm, while others have been observed with up to seven. The only physical attribute which seems to remain regular across any recorded spriggans is the similarities to various forms of trees found within the environment they inhabit.   Much like other feyfolk, the temperament of a spriggan various heavily based on the individual; some have been observed as friendly or curious towards kithfolk while others exhibit deadly hostility.
