The Tale of Beginnings

Hearken now and hear my tale. So it was that the Consang ships sailed from the South from some unknown land across the Fammet Sea. And their ships made landfall where Evart City stands today. At this time, every Tribe was led by a Trollkarl and a Rechtsprecher. Each Tribe stood alone. The Trollkarls of the Tribes were powerful sorcerers, but the Consang landed with fifteen thousand men and fully half knew the strange skills of Habi. In the battles of magic to come, those numbers came to matter more than the power of the Trollkarl, who numbered far fewer in their dark ranks. The Consang forces claimed the western half of the Blutben and the Tribes were forced to yield before them. It seemed as if the Tribes would be forced to surrender to the invaders, until the birth of Keterlyn. Keterlyn became a Rechtsprecher after the birth of her only child. It was she who unified the tribes under her leadership. As a single force, the Tribes could resist the might of the Consang armies. The Consang were not just a militant people. They also dealt with death in the shadows. The Consang King, Lumeaux sent his Lacache, his hidden blade and in the darkest night, the assassin snuffed out the life of Keterlyn. It seemed as if all was lost for the Tribes, but Lumeaux feared another taking her place, so he offered to the Tribes the Great Bargain The Bargain the Consang offered was this: The Consang would join with the tribes. Their lords would become Lords of the Tribes and the Consang alike. The Rechtsprechers would remain Speakers of Law. The Trollkarl, those who demanded the very life blood of the Tribes as fuel for their magic, they would be killed. To this bargain, the Rechtsprechers did agree and the Tribes and Consang became one people sharing the great fertile plain of the Blutben.
