The Legend of Oswetu and the Lightning Bird
In the distant past, terrible monsters ravaged the land—creatures made from the unclean joining of spirit and beast. Of these, the most fearsome was the Impundulu, the Lighting Bird. Its leather wings darkened the sky and storms came at its bidding to ravage the lands.
The people importuned the Gods for aid and the Left-Hand God heard their cries and caused the hero Oswetu to be born. In his fifteenth year, the warrior Oswetu tracked the Impundulu to its lair and slew the beast.
And neither he, nor the Lighting Bird, were seen in the lands again.
