Thomas Denson (a.k.a. Tommy)
History
Tommy's father died when he was 6 leaving his mother with six rambunctious hungry children. His oldest brothers, Dan and Wendall, when he was 8 because they were constantly getting into trouble. With his older brothers gone Tommy's mother sent him to work at the mill. He worked at the mill into his teen years until his mother got sick. She pushed through the illness for months. When Dan and Wendall showed back up, his mother told them to take Tommy when they left. She intended to send the remaining children to live with her sister.
At first Tommy refused, but after a severe "talk" from Wendall left him thoroughly bruised he relented. Their travels mostly took them to an array of saloons and whore houses where they would stay until Wendall's temper sent them on the run. Tommy worked several jobs during this time, supporting his brothers drinking and whoring. He often had little money left for himself.
While he was never let in on the details, Tommy was sure his brothers were committing various crimes to supplament their habits. It wasn't until they happened upon Longhill and the Sutters that Tommy learned his brothers were running protection schemes. Those who didn't pay for their "protection" were murdered by his brothers, including the Sutter family.
Wracked with guilt Tommy took the first opportunity to slip away to the Sherriff and turn his brothers in. His honesty almost cost him his life, a price he was willing to pay until Jake, Annie sutters older sister, intervened. Now Jake has been charged with keeping an eye on young Tommy and making sure he wasn't wrong about the man.
