Forester Bank and Trust
Forester Bank and Trust moved into Claystown in the summer of ???? by Martin Forester, grandson of the great Edmund Forester who brought banking from the cities and into the west. Martin ran the bank until is death in ????. Following his death the bank was taken over by his son, Davis.
Davis was by no means ready to take over the operation and quickly became overwhelmed. As business began to falter Betsy Dumont, a young clerk, came to Davis’s rescue. She spent the next week rebalancing the ledgers and teaching Davis what he needed to know to manage the bank.
Davis became infatuated with Betsy and, on impulse, proposed marriage. Betsy initially denied him and stood her ground for a year before finally relenting and marrying Davis in ????.
The bank is now managed by the couple and stands as Claystown’s most trusted bank.
