Bernadette

Bartender, cook, doctor, mortician, and Jolene's little sister.

Bernadette Walker

Growing up as Jolene Walker's little sister was no easy task. Bernadette was always an easy going girl and went along with Jolene's plans from an early age, trusting her sister to take care of her. When Jolene began working at The Creeping Oasis she tried to keep young Bernadette ignorant of her work, but it didn't take long for her to figure it out. Bernadetted begged her sister to find other work, but eventually gave up.

Jolene insisted her sister attend school despite Berna's protests. However she quickly became a star pupil in the small town and her teacher encouraged her to consider university back in the cities, a fact she kept hidden from Jolene. Eventually her teacher approached Jolene who lept at the opportunity to see Berna better herself. At fifteen, and much against her will, Bernadette boarded a train bound for the cities.

She spent the next several years studying both human and vetrinary medicine. She found her studies easy enough, but fitting into proper city society was a challenge. She made some friends over the years and even courted two men, but never felt she found love.

More often then not, she found herself longing for the wild west of her youth. Shortly after graduation, she received word that Grace Dennings had passed. Grace had been the closest thing Berna had to a mother. Broken by Grace's passing and worried about Jolene, she boarded the first train and left the cities behind.

Now, back in Claystown, she struggles to start a medical practice despite Jolene's protests. Bernadette is certain, however, that nothing will send her back to the cities.
