Life Force Crystallization
Utility
The Life Crystal obtained though this method can used in many ways, the most common one being grinded into powder and consumed with water to restore vitality. It is also a safe storage for liefe force and can be used by necromancers or similar magicians as power source. There are also current research in using the crystals to create sentient golems or even revive someone permanently.
During the first years of discovery the technique was restricted by the Empire while they made further research. Only after creating a modified ritual version that could only be used on small animals, was it released to the public. After that an industry began to form and life crystals became the favourite healing method for the upper echelon and rich adventures.
The original technique required the use of the Life Drain spell and an empty arcane crystal, therfor requiring a necromancer. After imperial modifications, the public version makes use of a rune circle to substitute the Life Drain spell. While the drawing of the circle requires accuracy and a suitable component, theoretically everyone can perform the ritual as long as they have at least minimal magical talent.
After the discovery of arcane crystals, that where essentially arcane energy particles in solid form, researches all over Teran wanted to artificially recreate the process. This lead to the research field of energy crystallization that soon split into various directions, one of them being research into the mystical life force, that was already known to have at least healing capacities. After many clerics found this direction to be heretic or amoral, this branch of development was only continued in secret.
It was only a while after the foundation of the Empire of Teran, that information on this topic could be exchanged openly without the fear of being burned on a pyre. Not only that, but the Eternal Emperor themselve even founded a special division dedicaded to this research. With now extensive funding and insight into similar branches, there where finally results in an imperial labor: With a modified version of the necromancer spell Life Drain, the researchers managed to extract the life force of small animals into an empty arcane crystal, effectively creating the first artifical life crystal
