Wood-Elven
Elves of the wood-elven culture are found throughout Vanareon, remnants of ancient fallen elven realms. Whereas the High Elves try to maintain the ancient cultural traditions, the wood elven core philosophy is that their kingdoms fell precisely because of those cultural traditions, and the arrogance and isolationism that they brought. The core principle of wood-elvenism is a return to simpler ways, more in tune with the underlying flows of the world. They are therefore often found in ancient forests, hence the popular name for them. They focus on magic that works in harmony with nature, rather than attempting to dominate it. While not as isolationist and racist as the high elves, wood elves are still unwilling to involved themselves in the affairs of the outside world, especially the petty wars of the kings of men; seeing them as a trap that would pull them back to the old ways that they have rejected. They are also proud of their elven heritage, and frown upon interbreeding in general, although there is no legal or direct prohibition against it as there is amongst the high elves. They are happy to welome like minded individuals of other races amongst them, but strictly under their own control. Like all elves, their long lives give them an innate sense of their own superiority.
