10th Jan Session

General Summary

After retreating from our exploration of the ancient chambers below the dungeons of Runsinane , we resolved to refocus on fulfilling the obligation that had been placed on Lord Kurog the Destroyer to provide troops to support Prince Kadikithis.   We decided that the orcish tribes would be an excellent source of troops, IF they could be controlled. Fortunately, Lord Kurog’s position as the leader of the Kwae Karr Tribe of Orcs  potentially gave us an opportunity to treat with the other orcish leaders as an equal.   We journeyed East towards Harken, as beyond lay the lands in which the four main orc tribes held sway: The Severed Hand Tribe, Evil Moon Tribe, Kwae Karr Tribe and Evil Eye Tribe. The latter, were the most powerful, and their leader (King F'yar) was known to be a strong and cruel tyrant.   En route to Harken we encountered a burned out farm, clearly the victim of an orcish raid. We followed the trail north into the forest where we made camp. We hid the weapons and armour as the cart was impeding our progress. We surmised that our quarry was a group of Evil Eye Orcs. Drogon, polymorphed into an eagle had spotted a group, accompanied by a wyvern, moving towards the Stonetooth. During the night some orc scouts approached our camp but dispersed when challenged. We later discovered a discarded quiver that had the symbol of the Severed Hand Orcs on it; they are known to be active in the nearby hills.   The next day we approached the Stone Tooth but were challenged by orc sentries before reaching the gates of the fortress. A camp had been established by the Evil Moon Orcs in the forest covering the lower slopes. We estimated at least 400 warriors. Kurog exchanged insults with their leader, King Fardak but there was no bloodshed. The king’s bodyguards seemed to be Evil Eye orcs, and we deduced that there was a relationship between these two tribes. The orcs were making ready to raid to the south, together with the Evil Eye Orcs we thought.   The orcs recognised Destroyer’s Vengeance as an heirloom of their tribe (it having been captured during our first foray to the Stone Tooth at Vordenheim’s behest. They were most displeased and we must be on our guard as they will surely try to recover it.   At nightfall we travelled north east, with Gurthang of the Evil Eye Orcs as our companion. Our objective to find Dark Tor and meet with King F’yar to persuade (or force) him to ally with us.
