It's a place where the urban environment of Sanctoria begins to meet the wilder, more mystical influences of the western kingdoms.
Along Frost Realms Avenue itself, the Frost Gate District presents a commercial face, though one perhaps tinged with the unique character of its namesake. Shops here might specialize in goods essential for cold climates or long journeys: durable furs, well-made cold-weather gear, potent herbs gathered from harsh terrains, scrimshaw or carved items bearing runic symbols, and perhaps even traders dealing in rare minerals said to be found only in the icy mountains of the Frostrealms. Taverns or lodges along this route might have a more rugged, insulated feel, catering to hardy traders, explorers, or enigmatic envoys from the west.
Away from the avenue, the district transitions into primarily middle-class homes. These residences are likely sturdy and practical, perhaps built with an eye towards insulation and durability, as if subtly acknowledging the harshness of the lands their district faces. Families living here might be those involved in the Frostrealms trade, artisans who work with western materials, city officials who liaise with Frostrealms representatives, or simply those who appreciate the slightly more insular, quieter nature of this part of the city. The district extends across both sides of Frost Realms Avenue, suggesting a cohesive community united by its connection to the western gate.
The influence of the Frostrealms might be felt subtly here – perhaps in the reserved demeanor of some long-term residents, occasional decorative motifs invoking ice or mountain spirits, or a greater prevalence of those skilled in nature-based crafts or elemental lore.
