Nócantio

General introduction

Nócantio is the capital of as well as the biggest city in the state of Tebrina. It is in the far west of Tebrina in the hilly parts of Tebrina which lies for the most part in the Sévo Mountain Range. It was originally an important city for trade with the regions east of the Confederation of Tarrabaenia until Tebrina expanded it's influence to the east across the mountains. Nowadays Remia dominates the trade to the east, but Nócantio stayed the capital and became a centre for art, culture and handicrafts. It is also located on the upper reach of the Bistúres river, where trade vessels can float downriver but have to be hauled upriver.

Climate and natural ressources

Nócantio is called 'The drizzly City' as it is positioned on the weather side of the Sévo Mountain Range, where the moist air from the Grey Sea rises and loses a lot of its moisture. Temperatures are quite mild all year round, but in winter there is a small chance the precipitation comes down as sleet. The Bistúres provides Nócantio with fresh water as well as fresh fish, especially perches, rudds and ides. Spelt and hazelnuts are cultivated around the city, the latter of which are also a quite well known product of the whole province of Tebrina. Cabbage, turnips and carrots are the most common vegetables. The forests around Nócantio are dominated by beeches, poplars and larches and also yews. Along the Bistúres there are large plantations of willows which are very important for the local half timber architecture as most of the framework gets filled up with wattle and loam which is abundant. Some of the half timber buildings are also use stones which are less easy to come by and have to be collected from the river or transported from the Sévo Mountains.
