Session 020: Report

General Summary

Having concluded your business with the lieutenant and saying farewell to your old allies, you mounted up and made your way south of Stonewell, to the Khosul family tomb. After a few hours of uneventful travel down into the valley, you were able to spot the entrance of this riverside tomb.   A flooded courtyard stood before the crypt's entrance, dotted by gravestones which peeked through the murky water. As you approached the grounds, you spotted a tall humanoid figure, rummaging through the waters, looking for something. You hailed the creature, who turned to look at you with its fishlike visage before diving beneath the surface of the water, swimming away from you.   You decided to enter the courtyard, wary of the bloated bodies scattered around the site. After giving them a good poke to put your mind at ease, you began to look around for whatever the creature was frantically searching for. Djura found a pearled ring hidden in the muck, which caused the creature resurface and emit a horrid screech, bringing the corpses around you to unlife.   Combat ensued, and you were able to dispatch the lesser undead with relative ease. The merman's wicked claws drew blood, but you eventually brought it down as well. With the area cleared, you felt confident in entering the tomb proper.   The entrance hall was adorned with murals which seemed to depict great deeds performed by the matriarch of the Khosul. As you inspected these murals, you noticed that the mantle carried by the elven ruler had been rendered with particular attention to detail. A grate in the middle of the room led downwards, into what seemed like a sewer or a drainage tunnel.   With your path branching, you decided to head east, where you found a small room behind a locked door. Filled with various tools and with jars of embalming fluid, the chamber was clearly meant for the processing of cadavers for entombing. A passage had been hastily broken through the brick wall in the far end, causing a bit of sunlight to illuminate the room.   A faint rattling sound emanated from a nearby cupboard, and you decided to investigate. Small enough to fit a halfling inside, the door of this container was locked with a padlock. Upon opening it, Djura found the remains of a skinned, hairy man. These boneless remains fell upon him and began to envelop and constrict around him, like a garment of animated skin.
