Great Houses

The Great Houses of Hastum are the three oldest and wealthiest noble families in the realm. They are adversarial towards each other in many matters, but they conduct it in a civil manner and convene together to decide on matters of the realm.
The Great Houses have sworn fealty to the Brukian regime, and were in turn allowed to retain their power structure and operations within the province. Much of the trade and industry in Hastum is reliant on their organization.
They are one of the Major factions in Hastum, and their goals are as follows:

Maintaining their power and influence.

Upholding peace and stability in Hastum.

Embracing Hastumite tradition in face of foreign influence.

The Great Houses swore their allegience to the King of Brukia, and were allowed to retain their autonomy and regional influence. The pact was not without controversy, and there are some among the nobles who resent their new liege.

The Voiceless seek to instate a new regime in Hastum that is not dependant on the old nobility. As such, the Great Houses view them as direct a threat to the traditional institution of power. However, there are some among the nobles who sympathize with their goals.
