The Honourable Society for the Advancement of Crime, Murder, Assassination, and Mischief
The Honourable Society for the Advancement of Crime, Murder, Assassination, and Mischief is a criminal organization that operates in Gashain and is headquartered in Mapledown. Gashanian criminals are, after all, Gashanians themselves and so the Society operates much like the other Guilds in Gashain.
As the name implies, the Society is concerned with the organization and promulgation of crime in all its forms. Crime in Mapledown is tightly controlled by the Society and non-guildmembers are immediate targets for 'deliquent dues' or 'bodily guild fees' depending on the situation. The Society operates a front organization out of a brothel and pleasure house called the Safron Salon in the Mannock neighborhood. Citizens wanting to do crimes can commission members of the Society for a reasonable fee as well as peruse the legitimate wares of the establishment. Overseeing both operations is the Society's enigmatic leader Artsy who's connections to the The Gashanian Mercenary Guild of Adventurers, Graverrobbers, Heroes, and Champions run deep enough to avoid any entanglements for their nefarious actions.
Since the Robinia Bracefoot's asscension to Shout and her passage of the Anti-Religion laws, the Honourable Society has found itself flooded with the devout. This has opened many new revenue streams for the organization between smuggling refugees, blackmailing prominent devotees, fencing, stealing, or expropriating religious artefacts, as well as bringing in lots of new blood as previously pious folk find themselves outcast. If they've broken one law, say some, why not break the rest? The influx of clerics, paladins, and celestial warlocks has bolstered the martial capabilities of the Society at the same time that it has weakend their greatest foes, the GMGAGHC.
