Gilded Thorn

A rapier previously owned by Deirdre, the goddess of mercy. It was previously used in her dance performances that required a blade in some way or form. When needed for combat, the wielder can attach its knuckle guard, which contains a built in selenite crystal. This allows the blade to make full use of its magic capabilities, giving it access to an ability that allows the user to call forth spirits. Despite the rapier utilizing magic, however, it is technically not a magical weapon, as astral forges did not exist at the time it was created. All magic used by the weapon comes from the crystal embedded into the guard. Although originally intended for stage performances, the rapier is fully combat ready, and the summoned spirits can even assist in the fight should they be willing. Its most notable battle was Deirdre's fight with a lindworm.
After Deirdre's ascension, the blade was lost. It was excavated years later by the Freyja tribe, who eventually turned the sword into a Lunarian heirloom after they rebelled against the royal families in the beginning of the Umbral Cycle.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

A small selenite crystal is embedded into the detachable knuckle guard, allowing the wielder to call forth the aid of spirits. It also allows the weapon itself to retain its high quality, regardless of the passage of time. Should the weapon break, it will eventually regenerate itself after a few days.
