The Lemon Festival of Eshadama [WASC2020]

The lemon festival is the annual harvest celebration in the tropical country of Eshadama. The citrus orchards of this country are famous for their productions of many of the exotic fruits that are shipped throughout the world. The lemon festival is named after the most versatile of the citrus fruits and most celebrated.
The festival occurs during the winter months of the year. Specifically on the days approaching and after the moon Finis is on its perigee, when that moon is closest to saga dorm. Eshadama is a country of fire and earth. The fire and earth-based fairies enjoy the hot and dry climates especially in the mountains. Thankfully due to favorable trade winds orchards of citrus fruits thrive within 7 miles of the coast where the humidity of the ocean helps sustain the groves. Farther in land, the orchards do not survive. It is the citrus fruits of Eshadama that were the first major export and cash crop discovered by the native peoples. And they quickly exploited the uniqueness of their fruits and their climate that work so well together.
The the lemon festival lasts for four days and is a celebration of all of the many uses of the lemon and of other citrus fruits. Lemonade is the official drink of the festival. A sweet variety for the children and a harder variety for the adults. Many dishes served during the festivals incorporate lemon as a major component including the cooking of fish that is caught in the oceans near the major port cities.
The celebration is held throughout the country, but the largest of celebrations are closest to the coast where the lemons are most plentiful. The native animal of Eshadama, and its spiritual animal, is the Komodo dragon. (I may need to find a different non-earth name or the Dragon but that's what it actually is.) Due to the Dragon avoiding large populations it is most easily found in the inner regions that are high desert and extremely arid. Normally the Dragon is a protected animal, however there have been farms to breed the Dragon as a delicacy that is only served during the lemon festival. And of course the traditional preparations include marinating the Dragon in lemon juice.
Some of the favorite portions of the celebration include the eating contest that focuses on lemons. The most entertaining is the juice chug. In this contestants are given a large picture of pure lemon juice that has not been sweetened. The contestants are told to drink the large picture of juice as quickly as they can the winner of the contest is the individual who is able to have the most stoic expression possible. The humor of the contest and the reason why it is so popular is because of how many people fail to not react when drinking pure unsweetened lemon juice.
Of course there are similar contest for youth but for them the lemon juice has been sweetened a little.
There are many delicacies and traditional desserts that accompany the festival. And these are not strictly limited to the lemon fruit but includes all of the citrus family. A wide variety of lemon, lime, orange, kumquat, and other tort citrus fruits are celebrated in pies, tarts, beverages, and other sweet dishes.
All people in a some of the love to enjoy the celebration. It is held in the winter because they wish to the remember the good things of the summer months.
