Storm Stone

Harvested from islands at the ever shifting fringe of the permanent storm in the shattered isles, Storm stone is a crystalline mineral that has been imbued with elemental energy from the repeated lightening strikes of the storms of the shattered isles. When in a charged state the crystal glows with a pale yellow light and small arcs of energy can be observed dancing between surfaces within the crystal structures.
While a relatively stable substance, when broken there is a possibility for the energy stored to be violently discharged from the crystal, leaving it in a hardened dull grey form. Efforts to return energy to the crystals once discharged have so far shown it to not be possible.
Lacking the energy density and power sustainability of Elerium Storm stone is not typically used as an energy source . It is however widely used to craft ammunition for various styles weaponry, usually making use of the force generated by the rapid energy discharge to propel either the crystal itself or another object towards a target at great speed or by making use of the short range electrical discharge itself to damage or incapacitate a target. While the latter features mostly only in the personel arms category, projectile weapons utilising Storm stone are found in all sizes from small pistols up to the cannons found on various ships and defensive emplacments of castles.
