Blanket cloak
Due to the cold climate in the Northern Mountains the People of the Mountains wear thick, warm clothing all year round. These heavy cloaks are a nessesity to survive the bitter temperatures. The design means that they can be worn around the body during the day and be unfolded at night to serve as a blanket. The use of hooks and eyes allows them to be attached to their sleeping mats to keep the heat in and make the night more comfortable.
Manufacturing process
These cloaks are made in a single night by the women in the village. They work together to prepare the animal skins and to make the woollen cloth, then they add the embroidery before sewing the two layers together.
History
The design of these cloaks has been passed down for generations, no one knows who first came up with the pattern but is has become widespread among these people.
Significance
They are an important cultural symbol for the People of the Mountains with each tribe and family using different patterns and combinations of embroidery to reflect each individual's identity within the larger group.

Tools
A loom is needed to create the cloth for the outer layer, sewing needles are needed to craft the intricate embroideries and to attach the two layers together.
The cultural details caught my attention, completed in one night! Intense work and says a lot about the people making them. It is an important item for everyone in the community to have.
