The Coils of Conquest
Structure
The Coils are separated into different cells, each called a Coil, and operated by a Tythos. The Tythos remains in contact with a Sisythos, who does not involve themselves with a Coil, but conveys messages between Tythossa. Sisythossa do not tend to meet unless they seek one another out with great difficulty in order to broaded their schemes or negotiate for greater support.
Public Agenda
The ultimate goal of the Coils of Conquest is the total domination of the human peoples, and their conversion into ophidarii. Each Coil tends to work towards a lesser goal, a crisis, seeing it done and observing the results before reporting back to the yuan-ti temples of Yuan Sthanuth.
History
Founded during the height of the Malari invasion of the free peoples of the world, the original Coils of Conquest operated in much the same way, hiding within sewers. swamps, cellars and such to avoid detection while they poisoned wells, made scouts disappear in the night, or caused unfortunate accidents to the fearful population they had been assigned to.
As Malari magics expanded, ophidarii were invested with the ability to shape and shed seemings, disguises woven from illusion, that allowed them to pass for human, which faded at dawn. Using a rooster's crow to detect predict the immediate onset of sunrise, signifying that they should be away to safety, caused legends about the ophidarii bane being the simple cockerel to appear, which became the popular belief.
Demography and Population
Numbers remaining small even in the modern age, the temples of Yuan Sthanuth record 33 Coils in operation. Coils contain anywhere between 3 - 12 ophidarii at a time.
