Aurelius Primus

Aurelius Primus, the Primulus Regalia, the Blood of the Bull, Bellicorus, the Supreme Lord. the Sovereign Host, the Lord Aurelius has many titles and epithets of glory and terror won at the point of pen and sword from the conquests of the Empire of the Regalia as its first Emperor in ages long gone.   While the Regalia has fallen, fractured by the sudden destruction of the capitol and all the dwelt within, Lord Aurelius still receives the prayers of the loyal citizens of what remains of that once-proud and unified empire. Claims of inheritance are made on behalf of dozens of different governments, contested highly by political, legal and religious experts save for a single point; any true inheritor must possess the regalia of state. This is understood to be divinely sanctioned, due to a prophecy from the Sanctum Superior; "Wings of black, arms of gold, breast of silver, iron cold, Blood of Bull, of ages past, anoint our king, reborn at last."   Aurelius is associated with War, and with Victory, memorialised forever as a testament to the ambition and drive of the first men and women of the Empire. Prayers to Him were prayers to the Emperor, who was traditionally one of His highest ranking devotees. His influence helped to solidify the battlefield and diplomatic conquests into the flourishing society of the Regalia. Together with Lucerna, the Lady of Order and Flames, Aurelius shaped Lady Clementia, the Mother of Civilisation, who helped to ease the burdens of empire and allowed Aurelius to expand His dominion.   The Bull’s Seal, Taros, is the icon of Aurelius, adorned by the faithful who wish to evoke his authority. Used in many rituals to denote the leader of the rite or holiday at hand (often drawn in the blood of a sacrificial bull), the mark of Taros has been adopted by the many rulers of what remains of the Regalia as the seal of governance, and of warfare.   Aurelius holds the red of blood to be sacred. His metal is steel and his jewel, ruby, though garnets are used by less wealthy adherents. His bird is the carrion crow, and His animal is the mighty bull, alongside the fantastic Catoblepas (or, Gorgon), a steel-skinned bovine with acidic breath and deadly gaze.   Aurelius commands angelic warrior-servants known as Keres.
