Grimspeak

Grimspeak is the capital of Mori, a kingdom on a frozen little spit near the top of the world. They are naturally isolationist as the majority of the world finds difficulty trading with them. Their lands are inhospitable and barren. They have no interest in food or spices. The population of Mori is about 18,000. However, the actually SENTIENT population is closer to 1,000, as many of the workers there are mindless golems and skeleton slaves. The sentient creatures here hold an elite social class known as Melleri, which grants them the right to hold property and land, vote for elected office, and participate in duels. The actual leader of the nation is not a monarch. They hold the title of Primalact, which is more like a dictator than a king. The Primalact has absolute authority over the military and the right to appoint most offices across the nation, with the exception of tribal chieftains and lawyers. The current Primalact is Everett Bonnepark.   The Melleri consists primarily of warforged, revenants, poltergeists, and some elementals. There's also a group of vampires to the south which tend to act as merchants, though they are considered outsiders in Grimspeak. Vampires are seen in Morian society similar to the way Jews were seen in Roman society. The vampires are seen as greedy and suspicious, and while these preconceived notions aren't entirely without basis, there are still plenty of vampires who serve the deathlands just the same as anyone else and suffer from the stigma of their peers. It also doesn't help that vampires need blood; a resource that is decidedly scarce in Mori. This is often why vampires become merchants and diplomats to satisfy their hunger in the living kingdoms. One of the great fears is that a vampire will become Primalact, and convert the entire area to kingdom based on vampire bloodlines. Vampires are also often accused of being "too lively" for Morian society, still posessing their skin and muscles. Some vampires have been accused of being elves in disguise, simply sharpening their teeth to infiltrate Mori. This has never been proven before, and it wouldn't even be illegal if it were true, but it still leads to an unfortunate amount of vampires being burned at the stake by angry mobs after accusations of being alive.   The Porcellate is the fortress at the highest point of Mori, and the central point of Grimspeak. The Primalact lives here, along with their thralls. The first room is the auditorium, and it's the only room where sentients besides the Primalact are allowed to enter. This is where the Primalact meets with leaders and ambassadors who have warrant to meet with the Primalact directly rather than through a messenger. The remaining parts of the citadel are inhabited only by the Primalact and their skeleton guards. Traps, guards, and fortifications only add to the subzero temperatures and gasping air pressure. Assassinating the Primalact while they're in the Porcellate is borderline impossible. Still, it seems the Primalact can't stay still for more than a week without leading an army or threatening a monarch. It seems even the dead can get stir-crazy.
