Viktor Osteler
Professor Viktor Osteler
Mental characteristics
Employment
Professor Osteler is currently a tutor of Politics at Kireth, Institute of the Arcane. Viktor has been working at Kireth for almost 10 years now, and is a member of Sylnan College. Viktor is an illusive figure at the school, and is very hard to track down for out-of-hours meetings as he spends much time outside of both the university and the Prosean country. However, he always manages to be there for classes and tutorials, and so nobody's complaints have been taken further yet. Viktor's speciality is in law and justice.
Viktor's background before becoming a tutor is somewhat mysterious, both to his students and to his coworkers. It is known that, for a time, he worked for one of the largest law firms in the country of Ovolyn and was a well-respected attorney of criminal law. His departure from that position, as well as his background before this is shrouded in mystery - particularly as no-one really knows how old he is...
Accomplishments & Achievements
One of Viktor's largest accomplishments was an instrumental legal case in 856 EP against the infamous serial abuser Micah Thorpe - a vampire with uncontrolled bloodlust who was able to almost avoid the law due to his connections to many of the higher-ups in Ovolysh society. He also litigated on other important cases such as the Rosskov Scandal and the Bridefore Trials.
Morality & Philosophy
Viktor is known around campus as haughty, unimpressed, and a strict rule-follower. However, his students often praise the dynamism of his classes. Although he has a blunter style of teaching, it is clear that his methods are very effective, particularly for any students interested in the field of law. The mock trials he has with his second year electives are highly regarded events - with students preparing for weeks ahead of them, and many friends and peers coming to watch the court in session.
There are many rumours circulating about Professor Osteler on campus, sparked by his mysterious background. A number of theories for his exit from the legal profession have been proferred, including: he was caught purjering to the court in a highly influential case; he was aiding and abetting illegal circulation of blood pouches; or that he pissed off the Ovolysh elite and was banished from the country. Which one is true, if any, remains a fun talking point for new students.
