Katrin first joined the Silver Glaive Order, an organisation known for training elite warriors who combined material discipline with divine power, as a young halfling. Having grown up in a rather fraught area on the Ovolysh-Urzhan border, she felt like it was her duty to protect her homeland. In the order, she became known as a protector-a champion who would trike down any who posed a threat to the innocent.

However, over time, Katrin's sense of purpose began to erode, as the line between defence and offence blurred and she participated in a campaign that left villages in ruin. The breaking point was being ordered to lead an assault against a group of rebels who were fighting against an unjust regime. She left the Order, and swore to never harm again, instead vowing herself to healing.

Since then, Katrin has worked at various different healing establishments, teaching herself medical practice. She has recently joined Kireth, Institute of the Arcane as a tutor of Medicine at Venna college. Her specialism is immunology, particularly guards and wards, and her unique perspective has allowed her to make huge headway in the field.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Katrin has found great success in spell engineering. Using the warding spells she learnt at the Order, she has worked to change their properties to be able to target specific causes of harm such as illnesses, allergies etc. Her greatest success so far has been the creation of a ward against miasmic rot, a magical infection cased by toxic, rotting magic that affects the lungs and heart. Mass production of these wards has since begun.

Katrin is kind and compassionate, and a devoted teacher despite her tendency to get swept up in her own research. She enjoys mentoring students, and encouraging them to experiment creatively with their research. She has taken on a research assistant, to help a student get more experience in the field.
