Session 53: The Age of Worms

General Summary

The Vandals climb the final two floors of the Spire of Long Shadows. When they realize all that is left is the very top floor the Vandals of Fate take pause to mentally and physically prepare themselves for the most difficult fight of their lives. Fedi Kita teleports to the Tomb of Horrors one of the most infamous and deadliest dungeons within Ronia. Using the Talismen of the Sphere she is able to extract the sphere of annihilation from the open faced mural. With this our Vandals with potions of quickness in their mouths step the final steps to the very top of the Spire of Long Shadows. Here they face Kyuss The Wormgod in all his glory.   The battle is brutal, Kyuss proves to be a deadly combatant as he fling both weapon and spell at our Vandal's defenses. Fedi Kita controls the sphere to strike at Kyuss. He proves to be resistant to the sphere however but it strips him of his regeneration and holds him in place. Elianna manages to make a killing blow sending the Wormgod realing. With that the sky clears and a swarm of Kyuss worms begin to cannibalize the Spire of Long Shadows. They leave in their wake amongst the warrens of Alhaster a new dungeon that will one day be opened to allow adventurers test their mettle against the foes that wander below.   Our Vandals of Fate fly to the base and are met by a crowd of citizens, they cheer for our Vandals however it is short lived when Prince Zeech approaches our Vandals. He declares that the Vandals are probably responsible for this and that only the strong shall rule the city. He challenges one of the Vandals to one on one combat, for if Zeech wins he will prove he is stronger than the Godslayers. Masari steps forward and with her sheer force of will alone causes Zeech to stumble to his knees, as his heart fails. Zeech welcomes death and accepts that he is weaker than Masari. The crowd cheers for Alhaster now has a new ruler. Masari the Champion.   Knowing that Lashonna still resides somewhere within Alhaster. The Vandals return to the Boneyard to where they had found the coffins just the day before. Here they find Lashonna, weakened, vulnerable. With no resistance our Vandals drive a stake through her heart, doing so ending her long reign as a Draconic Vampire. Lashonna's final words were quite cryptic as our Vandals can't help but ponder them that there might be something even beyond Kyuss that orchestrated these events. If this is true something far more dangerous still lurks behind the curtains. But for now our heroes need rest. They adventure is now over. Now it is time for the next generation of Ratcatchers to rise to the occasion.
Epilogue

Masari
Though the battle to the city of Alhaster is difficult, Masari turned the town into a lawful area, usually confronting the unlawful head on. Using her portion of the massive funds left from the Dragon's horde to rebuild damages and fund a temple fortress. With the goal of training the next generation of Champions in preparations for whatever crisis the Draconic Vampire was foreshadowing.
Xan
Xan would travel to wherever the winds take him, melding reforestation and weather smoothing to help calm the aftereffects of Kyuss. He over the course felt some loyalty and kinship to his teammates, but his initial impetus to the quest was a calling of the unfinished business of the elemental lords of air, one of his more powerful planer ties, and as he grew in strength, that abstraction of purpose towards otherworldly motivations only became stronger. He cared little for money, or things, as all he ever truly needed was gifted to him from the elemental planes. One might assume with his constant creation of trees, seeds and fruits, he left a tie to nature, but Xan is no more a druid than he is a wizard. With the rise of the age of heroes, and little need for the relics and artifacts he'd acquired, Xan used him powers to create challenges for upcomers to prove themselves worthy of. Not naturalist groves, but demi-planesque elemental hellscape of living steel, beast, carnivorous plants, intense storms of wind, lighting, or blades. Despite eschewing classic craftsmanship, the understanding provided by his legendary skills in stealth and thievery, combined with his intensely honed ability to call forth any shape he could visualize out of metal or wood, allowed hidden rooms, passages, and chests, and traps, that barely remain within the realm of mechanically possible, while still being free of magical influence in their nature.
