Session 49: The Artist
General Summary
The Vandals of Fate leave their demiplane and make their way south east towards the pull of the second soul part. Arriving they are met by an imposing tower of black stone with the top jutting up like a claw. Deciding to knock first the Vandals are left wondering if their is even anyone living within the tower. However they are soon greeted by a Veranallias named Zulshyn. Zulshyn is a bit air headed but is friendly to the Vandals. They learn she is an artist and mostly carves statues. Fedi Kita manages to convince her to let the Vandals in to view the statues as Fedi Kita felt the pull of the soul somewhere above them within the tower. As Zulshyn shows them her home, she eventually takes our Vandals of Fate members to the very top floor where she has built a piano, a harp, as well as one of her early works, a statue of a male adventurer who is on the plump side, has striking eyes and long wavy hair, and is dressed in travelers clothing. Fedi Kita sensing the spirit from this statue manages to bargain with Zulshyn to trade one of the previously found longswords that was worth 50,000 gp for the statue. Once the trade is complete and the statue placed within the spacious bag Fedi Kita feels a pull once more towards the North-West. The Vandals ask Zulshyn what could possibly be that way and Elora Zinran notices Zulshyn make a small twitch on her left eye. It is clear she is not impressed by something and she shares that a powerful lich named Thessalar lives within a fortress towards the north-west. She explains that Thessalar is quite "smitten" with her and has made multiple unwanted advances towards her. Most of them being attacks upon her tower. She asks the Vandals of Fate to defeat the lich so it would quit bothering her while she tries to make her art. The Vandals agree to this.
Taking to the skies once more in this deep rift of the The Wormcrawl Depths the Vandals spend only a few hours in the oppresive air. They arrive at a fortress, in the courtyard are two Thessalhydras who quickly attack the Vandals. Moments after the battle begins an undead lich appears within the doorway and begins firing off spells at our Vandals as well. The Vandals manage to kill it along with the two Thessalhydras. Searching the fortress they discover a vat of protolife where the third soul part resides. However it is angry incarnate and it explodes and forms into a powered up Thessalhydra this particular specimen proves to be difficult to kill given it is bathed in the liquid known as protolife. The special liquid that Thessalar uses in his experiments. The Vandals of Fate manage to slay this beast and with that unite the three soul parts. Now it draws them into the deepest parts of the The Wormcrawl Depths. For here is where Dragotha resides.
