Magazine

It needs more color! We have to make the images sing!

Composition

Magazines are a collection of pieces of paper that are sung together into a thin booklet. The pages are covered with images and words in what are commonly referred to as articles and advertisements. Articles contain information and entertainment that is composed by the members of the magazine, while advertisements are drafted by companies that are attempting to sell their products. Magazines are largely funded by subscriptions from readers and the charges to companies for advertising space. Magazines are generally themed around a particular interest, issue, or hobby.

Place in Society

Magazines are a frequent sight in the homes of most Idrans and Fiej alike. Other than the screens, they are the most common way of information being passed between inhabitants of the Empire. Most Idran families are subscribed to at least three different magazines. They are often scattered about the living space in case family members of guests want to have the opportunity to view the magazines or less frequently, read the articles.

Artwork

The images of Idran magazines are known far and wide to be so bright and colorful that it almost hurts the eyes. Magazine artwork is often designed to be as stimulating as possible. Many Idrans will simply flip through the images or spend some time looking at one that calls to them without reference to the associated article or advertisement. The images are by far the most highly regarded part of the magazine. As such, photographers and other artists are highly paid and highly valued by magazine companies.

Idra Today

This is the magazine with the highest readership in the Idran Empire. Critics have called it full of propaganda. The contents are largely divided into news, sports, and life sections. Benjamin Photographer has been a key contributor for decades and is well loved by the readership for his colorful, catching images. Nicole Editor was recently hired to make the magazine more relevant to modern times. Unfortunately, she tends to clash with Benjamin Photographer frequently on artistic vision, so she may not remain in the role for long.
