SW Session 46: There and Back a Chain.
General Summary
After killing a couple of beasts and being scared of another their first moments in The Shadowfell. had already proven to be interesting. Even more so when a half decayed Teifling called Captain Sallow. showed up and claimed to want to take them to The Pits. The Crew were doubtful at first as the Captain seemed lost but that was until he dug his cane into the ground and revealed the Sludge River and his ship the Hallow Wake.
The party climbed on board The Hallow Wake and were greeted with a hoarde of very ethusiatic skeletons all in different stages of decay. The party were given access to the captains bed should they needed it but before then the party were enouraged to gamble. The offerings were a tankard, some bone and a single gold coin. So Ravak upped the ante and offered his soul. Sallow agreed to play a game of Find the Skull. If Sallow won then he would get Ravak's services onboard the ship and should Ravak win (or his champion Ted Burnstien ) Then they would get the use of the ship when they needed it. Sallow accepted.
Ted lost.
Ravak, seeing this defeat immedietly dimension doored out of there and on to the shore, with Ted. This sparked the Hallow Wake to sprout chains and pull Ravak back.
What proceeded was a chaotic mess that involved Ravak being whipped through the gloomstalker woods, Brokk Stonefist headbutting a skeleton, Ted running as fast as he can and Leone Laponis climbing to shore. Ravak ennabled his form of dread which tightened the chains whilst Long used a protection from good and evil to reduce the form and thus causing a the chains to become loose. Then it took Brokk breaking afew more to truly allow Ravak to escape.
Sallow stopped the ship and offered to talk it out. Ted, being the banker he is, looked for a clause and said that Ravak was actually porperty of him and not therefore Ravak's own to gamble away. Ted showed Sallow the signature on the back and Sallow gave them a chance. He would grant Ravak leave but they must get his heart back from The Ragged King. SHould that not happed Ravak will be bound to the Hallow Wake.
