The Aztirgian Calendar

The Aztirgian Calendar is composed of 13 months plus one extra day. This extra day, Halloween, is the only common holiday celebrated throughout the land. Although many communities and races have festivals and celebrations throughout the year, Halloween is a realm wide celebration of harvest and community. On Halloween, all family gathers together to celebrate the last harvest of the year. It is said that on this special day, even family members who have passed beyond the veil can return to celebrate with their families.

Days of the Week

Each month is divided into four weeks of seven days. The days of the week are named for the seven major Gods although some of the names have become abbreviated over the years. Young children are taught a poem to help them understand the days of the week.

First we need nurturing

Then we need order

Now we can enjoy life

which allows us to learn

and wander far and wide

but watch out for the Trickster

and inevitable Death.

Omnozzi named for Opmnozz, the Goddess of Fertility, motherhood, agriculture and the harvest.

Menonzi named for Opmenon, the God of law, order, justice and governance.

Zovzi named for Zov, the Deity of wine, revelry, festivity, and love.

Palzi named for Uonpal, Goddess of wisdom, knowledge, riddles, and prophecy.

Thinealzi named for Thineal, God of travelers, messengers, and seekers.

Keetzi named for Keet, God of luck, prosperity and the Trickster God.

Todzi named for Tod, the Goddess of death, transition, and change.

Because there are exactly four weeks in each month, the days of the month are not numbered. People say the date as "the second Menonzi of Youthtime" as opposed to "the 9th of Youthtime".
