Ruin
A being that assimilates all that which is perceivable.
Perceived by most as the harbinger of the end times, Ruin is referred by philosophers simply as a cosmic horror, an eldritch abomination, the antithesis of that which is known. However, it is hard to know the truth when most can't even agree if it really is anything more than a concept given consciousness, like an Emanation is believed to be.
"Analysis Data: Molded, rotten, pasteurized, non-organic flesh."
ANATOMY & MORPHOLOGY
Ruin appears in a near-infinite amount of forms that are twisted, mix-and-mashed mockeries of everything that it has assimilated onto its form. It is currently impossible to gauge just how much matter, organic or not, that is.
PERCEPTION & SENSORY / EXTRASENSORY CAPABILITIES
In its never-ending web of assimilated forms of life, Ruin seems to carry any and all known senses throughout the extent of its influence. Its awareness of events unfolding far away from its physical reach is often attributed to the amount of information it might've absorbed within its mass. Although it's also suspected that it is capable of inconspicuously spreading itself throughout Heir in a very minor capacity.
Creatures, when consumed by this entity, are said to retain their consciousness while experiencing the endless wave of all the others that met the same fate, like experiencing all of the pains, trauma, insecurities, and even good memories, of all things consumed by it, at the same time, in an endless cycle.
GENETICS & REPRODUCTION
Ruin's genetic pool is frequently perceived as endless, still, researchers defy that notion basing themselves on physical boundaries and the study of recorded limitations by the entity.
GROWTH RATE & STAGES
The relentless growth shown by the entity is exponential, and overwhelming in nature. As it envelops other creatures and land, it shows a variety of ways to process the material onto itself. The simple use of chewing mechanisms and acids for the dilution of the subject are common, however other methods like disintegration via the use of electricity, have also been recorded.
This rapid spread can only be stopped by having every aspect of its forward pressing form being focused on. As long as Ruin is perceived in its entirety it won't advance any further. Being aware of something to this extent is not a task a normal person is usually capable of performing, for that reason, specially engineered sentinels called Watchers are installed across the entire perimeter of the Agos Border which surrounds the Ruined Lands as to halt its near-unrelenting push.
The Shield of Heir
Ruin is the reason the people of the Garth believe being completely forgotten is the best outcome after death, for the thought of being assimilated by Ruin and enduring the endless torture as it makes use of their essence to hurt and/or assimilate others, makes anyone desire oblivion instead.
The Ruiners (now known as Rescue Teams) were founded by Khantua in order to prepare and deal with the possible threat of Ruin which at that point had not yet returned. Now they make for the main specialized forces dedicated to dealing with all matters concerning it, for purposes both defensive and offensive.
