Break of Dawn

The exalted day where Khantua broke Ruin and brought it to its metaphorical knees.

Summary

The event brought on the separation of the lands from the oceans, as the Core Gases‌ spewed from within the depths of bedrock and almost turned the planet into a gas dwarf.
When this period was finally over, a new age of all, flora, fauna, and peoples was brought to form new ecosystems in Heir, spawned from the now "cleansed" genetic bath.
A vicious cycle was unknowingly set in motion once more.

Historical Basis

Khantua, the only surviving member of the Mornen civilization, and the only one left to tell the story, reported they were unsure of how long it took to complete the Break, yet they mentioned it felt like about a century had passed. Current calendars were adjusted according to those claims.
Today, Geologists and Thermo-specialists, after analyzing the dissipation of the Core Gases, formation of the moonstone crusts, and other geological events, believe the Break of Dawn happened over a span of time maybe a hundred times longer than perceived by the last Mornen.

Spread

The Uk Garthian are recorded as the first sapient species to spawn from the Break of Dawn, however, it is only because they appeared in the same location as Khantua, ushering them to learn from the Ancient and develop faster as a civilization early on.
Biologists believe that the first species to spawn from the Break of Dawn was the Eshan and the Hearthen.

Variations & Mutation

Different cultures and regions usually have different takes on the legend of the last Mornen. The stories that speak of the pinnacle of the last age are often the ones which award Khantua their titles.
For example, the Alpen call Khantua "Lifter of Spirits", as it's how their High Visionaires (their gods), Azdra and Shalizi refered to the Champion. The Alpen believe Khantua led the new people of Heir in the last battles against Ruin until victory had come to be.

In Literature

There are uncountable documents written about or inspired by the Break of Dawn, from historical documents co-written by Rubes, to an organized compiling of letters sent and received by the Icon.
Perhaps the most widely known is the best seller The Turn Tales by Crador Meeliana; a 12 book-long series of fantasy novels inspired by the recorded history of the Garth, telling tales of the adventures of Khantua, from their young age, to the formation of the Ruiners, to the events of the Break of Dawn, and then their time as a living legend leading the people of the United Provinces.

In Art

Like the uncountable number of documents speaking of this legend, there are also an insurmountable amount of pieces inspired by the pinnacle of the last Age, yet an official one stands if there can be such a thing; Desined by Numero S'naadir, the murals carved into the Uber Keep halls are said to only be visible to very few people, if at all one were to be allowed to walk its endless folding passages.
