Races & Subraces
In addition to all races available up to D&D Fifth edition, including the Eberron & Spelljammer settings, here are some more homebrew races and subraces to consider:
The Augmented (Cyborgs)
See here for a list of Magitech Augmentations
Those who choose to become augmented are anything but a monolith. Most augmented become so after losing a limb or the capability to hear, see, walk, even speak. Faced with the challenges that naturally come from their situation, they reach out to master crafters: artificers specializing in the making and installing of wondrous magitech prosthetics to a living body. These artificers take incredible pride in their work, and each add a unique, personal touch to their craft. As a result, no two augmentations look or work the same. They are personally made for the person augmented with them. Most of the time, a lost arm is replaced with an artificial limb, meant to work exactly like an arm would, but artificers are inventive by nature, and so many augmented are given secondary characteristics to their augmentations, not just allowing them to replace their lost limb or sense but also giving them new capabilities that their original limb did not have.
NOTE: This race variant is intended to give some utility behind any augmentation you have. If you wish your augments to just be flavor, or otherwise have no special effects, then its not necessary to take this race. Please speak to DM for specifics on whats allowed.
The Augmented (Racial Variant)Simic Hybrid (Chimera)
The Empire has for centures been secretly fusing different life forms together, magically transferring the traits of various animals into their humanoid subjects. In recent years, they have extended this research to select magitech components as well, giving a wider variety of biological and machine adaptations. The goal of this so-called Chimera Project is to build an army of superior soldiers, perfectly adapted to a variety of combat situations and molded to serve the Empire. These hyper-evolved specimens, called Chimeras, are considered the successor to previous failed attempts at creating super soldiers - ie, the warforged and rogue AI uprising of the second crusade.
