The Grand Park

The Grand Park, once a symbol of Lucar’s opulence, now mirrors the fading glory of the empire.   Expanse: Covering a vast area, the park is a labyrinth of formal gardens, wide promenades, and hidden alcoves.   Gardens: The formal gardens, designed with geometric precision, are lined with hedges and dotted with statues. However, the hedges are overgrown, and the statues are weathered, some vandalized or covered in moss.   Promenades: The wide pavements, meant for leisurely strolls, are cracked and uneven, with weeds pushing through the gaps. Once-lit by ornate lamp posts, many now stand dark, the glass broken or stolen.   Fountains: Grand fountains, which used to cascade with crystal-clear water, are mostly dry, the intricate piping systems damaged or pilfered.   Flora: The variety of flora that once bloomed in orchestrated color schemes is now a wild array of untended growth, with some rare species completely lost to neglect.   Benches: The park benches, intended for rest and reflection, are splintered and graffitied, offering little comfort to visitors.   Maintenance: There’s a palpable lack of maintenance, with litter scattered among the fallen leaves, and the once pristine paths are now mere suggestions in the landscape.   The Grand Park stands as a poignant reminder of the impermanence of grandeur, its current state of disrepair reflecting the broader struggles of the Lucarcian Empire.
