The Beast God's Lair

The manticore's lair, nestled on the fringes of Mere Marsh, is a foreboding place. It has chosen a secluded spot where the trees grow dense and twisted, their roots snaking across the ground and into the murky waters. The lair itself is situated in a natural hollow, surrounded by thickets of brambles and thorn bushes that serve as a deterrent to any unwary intruder.   Inside, the lair is surprisingly spacious, with a high ceiling formed by the interlocking branches of the overhanging trees. The floor is littered with bones and remnants of the manticore's prey, and the air is heavy with the scent of musk and decay. At the far end, a large pile of leaves and moss serves as the creature's bed, positioned so that it has a clear view of the lair's entrance.   The manticore has also made use of the wooden bridges constructed by the lizardfolk, incorporating them into its lair's defenses. Some bridges have been cleverly rigged with traps, ready to collapse under the weight of an intruder or to ensnare them in a net of vines.   Despite its fearsome reputation, the manticore's lair blends seamlessly into the marsh, making it difficult to spot unless one knows exactly where to look. It is a testament to the creature's cunning and adaptability, ensuring that it remains the apex predator of Mere Marsh.
