North Web is a place of violence. Not necessarily against one another, but against any who dare to oppose them. In such violence, one of the things that came about was a message system, designed for its discreet nature, and taken from remains of books from the old world. Unsure of the true origins, the language got its name from how it was written, with little scritches on whatever material may be around. This same versatility in location made it catch on well, especially in the militaristic groups in the area.
The alphabet is mostly based off of what was found, with some mutation mixed in, as well as symbols to represent whole words, rather than individual letters. The base for the actual words is often English, but sometimes other dialects in the area that they developed. For example, the Spiders developed from an old Irish orphanage, and the founders there tried to pass on that language, in order to communicate in ways that others wouldn't be able to understand.
