Plant
Often known as flora, plants are organisms that function based on a mostly stationary life, unlike animals. Some, most in the region actually, function in photosynthesis, or the process of gathering nutrients from sunlight. Plants can have many uses, from decoration to clothing to medicine and food.
Plants are known to grow, or sprout, from assorted places, often the ground, and many have root systems which help they to gather nutrients from the ground, or wherever it is that they have latched onto. Roots also provide stability, such as in trees, which are, in fact, just large plants.
Some plants need intervention to live through the weather, especially with the harsh winters in Rochester. Often, they form symbiotic relationships with other organisms, often animals, in order to survive. They can provide food, aesthetic pleasure, and oxygen, in small amounts, and in return, animals can help to spread their seeds, protect their territory, water them, or be their mind puppets, in extreme cases.
