Pete Cumbees

Suave, charming, and just totally awesome. These are the words that describe Pete Cumbees, or at least the way he perceives himself. He's a white man with a bit of a weight problem and has short brown hair with a full beard. He usually wears shorts along with a short sleeve shirt and a black hoodie. He wears a monocle as well, which gets him some flak from his friends, but in actuality, he's nearsighted and the monocle helps him see far off objects.
Pete isn't a heroic role model by any means, but he's still a friendly person who will go out of his way to help those in need. He acts as the leader of a small group of humans in the Pitts South who have sought refuge from the daily struggles of the apocalyptic world. Pete came across these people in his travels and offered them a place in his group because he saw either a useful skill that the group could benefit from, or they were honest with him about their past. Anyone willing to help the community is welcome in Pete's group. Additionally, when things go south, you'd better be ready to defend each other with everything you've got.
He is also the caretaker of what he calls "The Source", a pool of clean water he came across in a cave. No one knows how the source replenishes itself, but it does, and thats all you need to make sure everyone stays hydrated. The cave is naturally cold and ensures the water is icy cold when its scooped out. The water also has a faint, but pleasant fragrance to it similar to raspberries. Drinking the water for an extended period of time has also softened Pete's voice and he claim's it's "cleared his mind."

General Physical Condition

Mostly healthy from drinking the source's water. Has an old bullet wound in his right shoulder that has since healed, but means he sometimes has trouble holding things with his right arm

Personal history

Pete grew up in a poor city learning to survive from day to day with other orphaned kids on the streets. It was tough to live this way, but he got by because of his best friend Arnold. The two were like brothers to each other and they never left each others sides up until the age of 15. At that point, Pete came up with a crazy idea - leave the city for a better life. Arnold looked at him confused for a second and answered that it would be difficult without any supplies or even a gun to protect themselves. The conversation quickly turned into a heated argument that ended with Pete leaving Arnold alone and setting out on his own. To this day, Pete still wishes to reunite with Arnold one day and show him the life they could have had together.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Once took an injured bandit leader that stumbled by the source's cave into his care. After being treated for a few weeks and drinking deeply from the source, the bandit leader was indebted to Pete and gave him his prized hunting rifle as a gesture of good will before returning to his gang.

Failures & Embarrassments

Pete still has nightmares from time to time about loneliness ever since leaving Arnold all those years ago. He also deeply regrets losing those who have died from various excursions while in his group, and he treats these deaths as his fault.
