Peek
Peek knew what he wanted to do with his life from early on. Peek's father died before his birth, and Peek's mother was diagnosed with brain cancer when Peek was just 13 years old. At the age of 15, Peek became an orphan after watching his mother slowly descend into madness as the tumor within twisted her brain structure. Watching her go through this agony sparked something inside Peek. He wanted desperately to save her, but he was too young to do anything. He vowed he would learn how to save others from his mother's fate, and after many long years in medical school, he earned his degree in Neurosurgery from the University of Rochester.
Peek became a prolific surgeon, known across the country as an expert in his field. He performed every kind of brain surgery you can think of. As the years went by, he worked madly on a new technique to push his research beyond the limits of what was previously thought possible. He would perform a brain transplant between two living humans.
He put his blood and tears into the project, tried hundreds of thousands of experiments, blazed through millions in grants. After so many failed attempts, he finally did it. He moved a brain from one patient to another and both survived the process! He became a hero, he was able to move people into new bodies if their old ones were no longer suitable.
Unfortunately, his fame didn't last long. Soon after Peek's groundbreaking discovery, the Psychic Maelstrom arrived in Rochester and turned everything upside down. Peek was singled out by the storm, perhaps because of his affinity with brains. The Maelstrom encouraged him to keep experimenting, improve the technique. He had plenty of bodies to work with after all.
After a year in the wasteland, Peek made an even greater discovery. The Maelstrom taught him how to transplant his own brain into another living body. He implanted cybernetic upgrades to his brain so that it could move on its own outside of a body. He became an effectively immortal parasite, jumping into new bodies when his previous ones became unsustainable.
Peek wandered the Rocpocalypse for many years, searching for suitable test subjects, and swapping bodies regularly so as not to be tracked. Eventually the war broke out between Irene's Decoy and the North Web, and Peek was unfortunately caught in the crossfire. He was captured by North Web forces, and attempted to escape by transferring his brain into one of the guards. He was caught red-handed and was forced before Gypsie, the general of the North Web forces. Gypsie moved Peek to the Seaway military compound to be tortured, she needed his secrets. Anything that could tip the war in the North Web's advantage was invaluable, and being able to swap brains, Gypsie thought, could lead to covert soldiers the likes of which had never been seen before.
But Peek never cracked. Currently, he is breaking out of the Seaway prison along with a ragtag team of dangerous prisoners. His plan: Get in the same room as Gypsie, and steal her body as retribution and to gain control of the North Web troops.
