Ekhenda
The Ekhenda, sometimes called "The City of the Ekhenda" to avoid confusion with its namesake realm, is an expansive city deep in the heart of the jungle realm of the same name. It is a place of endless competition, where fortunes are won and lost by one's strength, wits, and ability to defend against challengers.
The city is the domain and seat of power of Oglotai, the Khathari god of battle, the hunt, and, most importantly, competition.
Although poverty is relatively minimal in the Ekhenda, society is nevertheless highly stratified within the city. One's social status and prospects is determined exclusively by one's place in the city-wide ranking system, which is in turn determined by how well one can perform in contests of strength and skill in either of the city's two great arenas.
Access to certain areas of the city is restricted to only individuals of sufficient ranking, with unranked citizens and visitors being restricted to the outskirts, and only the highest ranking able to access the wealthiest parts of the city. Likewise, certain rights and privileges, such as home ownership, are afforded only to those of sufficient rank.
Demographics
The city is connected to various cities in other realms of the Shardscape and is populated by an incredible array of peoples that span the gamut of color, size, shape, race, and walk of life. So remarkable is this diversity that some scholars have been known to exaggerate and say that in the endless rainforest of the realm that is the Ekhenda, it is the city that lies at its heart that is its crown jewel of diversity. It is also sometimes said that walking down any one of the city's streets at any time of day, one could easily find and point out peoples of at least a dozen different races, colors, and creeds.
The demographics of the city are not well-understood. There has never been an official census conducted, and most unofficial attempts are stymied by the fact that many of the city's residents are transient.
