The Lords' Alliance

The Lords' Alliance, also known as the Council of Lords, is a partnership of merchant cities across the Sword Coast and the northern and western Heartlands. They have extensive influence in the major cities such as Neverwinter, Baldur's Gate, Waterdeep and Silverymoon and aim to promote stability and prosperity throughout the sphere of influence (though not necessarily for the benefit of its inhabitants as many lower-level agents of the organization proclaim and believe; instead, at its highest levels members mostly care about maintaining the status quo and the regular flow of gold into noble coffers).
In their efforts, they oppose the Zhentarim, various thieves guilds, unlawful organizations, and wild monsters that would threaten smaller towns and villages that the nobility would have an interest in the development of.
