Summary: The Minor Gods wish to seize control of the Nexxus of Time and establish a new Reality where they supplant The Makers as the supreme deities controlling the Universe. A'on, the Guardian of Reality, seated at the Nexxus of Time, needs to find The Fragments of the Makers; residual artifacts left behind by the incalculably powerful beings that created not only the Universe, but the very fabric of Reality itself. A'on needs these fragments in order to infuse himself with the power of the Makers so he can be ready for The Reckoning - an apocalyptic battle with The Wurm; a collective of minor gods left behind by the Makers after their Ritual of Making to act as custodians of Reality. A'on must find the fragments and recreate the Ritual of Making wherein he will absorb a portion of the Maker's powers and be strong enough to defend the Nexxus from their pending invasion. The Fragments are spread across the fabric of reality and may take many different forms; artifacts, creatures, locations, and even living beings. The Wurm also seeks The Fragments of the Makers; for whoever holds these ultimately controls The Nexxus of Time and has the potential to purge Reality and forge a new Universe based on their own designs. Before the Story: Before Reality was created and the Multi-verse came into being, there was The Celestial Plane; a paradise where The Makers ruled supreme benevolently and gracefully. Immortal, omnipotent and immensely powerful, the Makers became unsatisfied with their existence. They wished for children, for beings to share existence with. Procreation was possible, and something not unheard of. Through procreation and symbiosis The Makers gave birth to a great many offspring. These creatures, both fair and foul, were later to be know as The Gods. The Makers had a great many children who in turned often possessed some small portion of their infinite power. Yet, as much as they loved their children, they felt unfulfilled. They wished to do something more. So, The Makers came together at the Nexxus - the highest point in the Celestial Plane - to discuss their shared longing. After an exchange that spanned a millennium, it was shared between them that The Makers felt a calling to become something more than even each of their individual grandeur reflected - they wished to become everything... Life, death, earth, heaven, beast and soil. They wanted to create an infinitely diverse creation that grew with a life force of its own, that commanded it's own destiny, and to act as the lattice upon which countless beings would establish themselves. They would call this thing, Reality. The ritual to create Reality would consume each and every one of the Makers and combine their infinite powers together to create The Multiverse. The essence of the Makers would act as the building blocks for all things, but in so doing, would consume each of the Makers entirely and utterly. This did not mean they would cease to exist, but that they would become intertwined and interwoven with all of existence in much the way that a plant springs forth from the soil, blooms, and then returns to that soil when it's life cycle is done. In so doing, the Makers would become even more powerful, connected to literally everything and everyone across the Multiverse; making them even more powerful than they were - albeit without an individual physical presence as they had today. The Minor Gods and The Wurm The minor gods were the servants of the Makers. They existed in the Celestial Plane and were content to their roles as defined by the Makers; which was often that of custodian or other menial role. When the minor gods learned of the intended plan of The Makers, there was discord and discontent. "Surely," thought the Minor Gods, "they have a role for us in this new and wondrous effort they are undertaking?" There was concern among the Minor Gods that The Makers had grown so infatuated with their plans, that they had forgotten their First-borne. The Minor Gods convened a Moot, a great gathering of the Minor Gods, for the purpose of discussing what to do about The Makers plan. Many of the Minor Gods were content to let The Makers proceed with their plan, and expressed no concern. They trusted their creators implicitly and were content to assume whatever role The Makers had in store for them in this new Reality. These were mostly those of the Minor Gods whose power was trivial and insignificant when compared to their forbearers. Others, the more powerful and capable gods, those imbued with powers that reflected the abilities of The Makers, albeit a weak reflection of the same abilities as they existed in The Makers, were less content. They wished to know more about what their role would be so that they might seek to negotiate with The Makers for greater influence in the new order The Makers sought to create. But lastly, the most powerful of the Minor Gods, 5 gods of impressive power and might - firstborn to the Makers - to whom The Makers referred to as "The Wurm'', contemplated their creators' plans bitterly and were clear in their contempt at the thought of being subjugated in the new order that was forthcoming. These five and most powerful of the Minor Gods, were the first five created by The Makers. As such, they possessed the closest and most concentrated likeness of The Makers and wielded powers similar to them. The first born was Raktah, powerful, intelligent and proud. Next was Kala; creative and clever. The third born was Sveta; steadfast and unrelenting. Fourth was Nila; quick and cunning. Lastly was Haari; bold and fearless. Together they sought counsel with The Makers. In their boastful demeanor, The Wurm told The Makers they felt it unfair for them to create a new thing in which The Wurm could not partake. "We are the first born to you. And even though our greatness pales in comparison to your might and wisdom, we are significant and awesome in our own right. To reduce us to nothing more than a place equal in existence to the lowest of our kin is to treat us unjustly." The Makers were deeply saddened to hear such prideful words from their five first borne. They explained that in this new thing they sought to create they, and all their brethren, would enjoy peace and contentment from the roles The Makers saw for them. "It is fine for you to speak of contentment, but how might we be content to merely sit back in the heavens for eternity? To be relegated to observing the mechanisms you wrought and have no part to play in them? As you are our forebears, do you not have a duty to us to pass along to us the role of leaders and teachers that you would abandon in this pursuit?" The Makers smiled at The Wurm and explained that this was not possible. The Makers explain to the Wurm that, though The Wurm were indeed mighty, they lacked the compassion, understanding, and patience that The Makers possessed. As such, they were ill-suited to rule over the Celestial Realm upon the departure of The Makers. More importantly, the Celestial Realm itself would cease to exist as they knew it; becoming something more than they presently understood. When The Makers communed to become Reality, much of what they were, and much which made up the very fabric of the Celestial Realm, would be incorporated into this new thing. There would be no manner in which The Wurm could rule even if The Makers so willed it. With this Raktah spoke first, "Then allow us to take some role in the planning of this thing you seek to build. We too wish to have a hand in the splendor you envision for it sounds glorious and terrifying in it's complexity. Let this be the last lesson you pass onto us as our forebears." The Makers, feeling compassion for their first born, agreed to let The Wurm partake in the planning for The Ritual. But, unbeknownst to The Makers, there was betrayal in Raktah's heart. Raktah sought out his brothers and shared his plan with them; to come to understand enough of what The Makers intended to be able to influence the outcome. In so doing, he contended The Wurm could ensure that The Celestial Realm survived The Ritual. Their survival would not be complete, but enough to allow The Wurm to not abandon their power or their form. In so doing, they would preserve the ability to, eventually, undo The Ritual and bring Reality to a place where The Wurm could reform everything anew. A new Reality reflecting The Wurm as the master of all creation.
