Linnadeigh Coastguard Ice Patrol

The CIP is a volunteer organisation, organised as part of the Linnadeigh Coastguard, dedicated to patrolling the waters around Linnadeigh. They usually deploy in small, lightly-crewed vessels for several months at a time, roaming the northern seas to chart the ever-changing patterns of ice floes and bergs.
Their fleet is unusual in that many of their vessels are not intended to break ice but to travel over it. The smaller ships are often constructed to be so light that the crew are able to move them bodily over ice, while others are fitted with track modules to allow them to crawl over ice or land. Hovercraft are common, as are medium-sized ice-classed ships.
