XVII: Regeneration

In Naos The Party reunites with Vince. "So, what are we going to do now?" Vince asks. "Well, I have to figure out how these Blobs work. So I will be heading to the... local mage guild... I think?" Aeg says.   The party arrives at the huge tower of the Delphic Order, the mage guild of Mirrah. Here they are told that the 15th floor of the tower is free for their use and suited for Blob experimentation. Aeg goes to his work together with a researcher called Verne Scenay. Meanwhile the other members of The Party visit the temple of Boccob, the god of magic, to see if they can figure something out. The next day they regroup.   "Have you been going at it all night, Aeg?" Vince  asks. "Yeah and it was amazing! Verne and I have been able to figure some things out. Apparently the Blobs don't like fire, but can't be destroyed by it. Acid also has some effect, but far less than fire. Other types of damage that were tested by us had no effect at all. Like we know the veins and fibers will regrow over time, I am not really sure to what extend and to what happens after that. But I have advised Verne to apply a regular dose of heat. We do not know if the Blobs are contagious. So it is hard to figure out how Archibald ended up with one, or how our friend here is affected, since he is giving of some weird readings on the undead meter" Aeg explains. "Good work, but we have been summoned to attend to the inauguration of the new governor of Mirrah by King Æthelberht in Thorismund. I believe not attending might be seen as rude" Varis says. They gather their horses and carriage and they leave for Thorismund.   On their way to Thorismund the The Party is attacked by Barag Mul. They are victorious against the mechanical horrors, but some of their horses have shorter legs than they used to have. "Hmm... these things are going to be a problem. If they discover Norumbega they will likely infest and consume the city, creating hundreds, if not thousands of new Barag Mul. They will become a plague that will consume this world that way. We have to find the source." Eckle Eckingqacker says troubled. "The source?" Vince asks. "The source" Eckle Eckingqacker replies "All Barag Mul come from one leader, the source of the hive mind. If we can destroy that they will just be singular entities, not a collective. They will also likely stop reproducing. They must not reach Norumbega".   "Well the only thing left to do is to put these beautiful pieces of tech in my bag of holding" Glim says as he opens his bag. Suddenly a huge hand lunges out of the bag, reaching for the little Gnome. Glim reacts and steps back, dodging the hand. Before he realizes what has happened the bag of holding ruptures and implodes. The bag is gone and its contents are most likely floating across the Astral Plane.   "That was an undead giant, he has regenerated. You didn't heat it every now-and-then, did you? By the way, if this is a giant, where is Archibald?" Aeg says, shocked. "I kept Archibald in my bag, really." Glim answers. "Well either Archibald has imploded with the bag, or he is in Naos. How many bottles with Blobs did you make?" Eckle Eckingqacker says. "Three, I think" Glim answers with a grim look on his face. "Let's see, there are two in Naos, one at the Delphic Order and one the temple of Boccob. So Archibald can't be here. Will those people listen to our instructions, Aeg?" Eckle Eckingqacker says. "I don't know about the bishop, but surely Verne would. Damn, I have a bad feeling about this, we need to go back. I never expected them to regrow a full body, let alone in such a short amount of time" Aeg says.
