Rigel

About 450 years ago a mighty and highly advanced civilization ruled the whole of Rigel. They had managed to successfully merge magic and technology into one, creating true Technomancy. Many legends and myths exist about this age, they all tell the same story. It was a time of plenty, there was no poverty and there was no war. Only peace and prosperity existed.   Contrary to one might expect this did not last. Suddenly and almost without a trace the advanced civilization vanished. To this day it is still a mystery what happened. Perhaps they started to rival the gods in their power and the gods prevented that. Perhaps Technomancy became too much for them to handle and some kind of disaster occurred. Perhaps the whole civilization ascended to become higher beings somewhere. All valid questions but they all fail to answer one question: Why is there still a civilization of mortals left, albeit less developed?
